Jillian Edwards
“Gotta Have You”
We’re really feeling this Jillian Edwards indie-folk tune with her sweet, personal vocals, and we’re excited to premiere the video for it. “Gotta Have You” in video form is very reflective of the song: simple, gorgeous, and honest — focusing solely on Edwards and her guitar. We’ve gotta say it stands out as one of our favorites from her record Daydream. You can also catch her on the road this September.
“Strange Enough”
Currently, “Strange Enough” is the only single New York-based songstress VÉRITÉ has out, but she already has us hooked. The synth-pop singer takes an intimate look at past relationships while romanticizing moments and creating her own emotional, nostalgic world. Truth be told, we are on the edge of our seats waiting to hear what VÉRITÉ has in-store for us next.
“Am Gone”
Falling somewhere in-between Dirty Projectors and alt-J is Adult Jazz — the Leeds-based band that’s been getting a lot of buzz for their powerful songs. “Am Gone” is a track that definitely has both blues and jazz influences coupled with breathtaking vocals. The buildup in this track definitely gets us, and we can’t wait for their debut Gist Is due next week.
“Lemonade”
If you love the sound of Pop Rocks and bubbles, then SOPHIE’s latest track “Lemonade” will certainly be candy-coated pleasure for your ears. “Lemonade” crosses genre lines like no other hitting dubstep beats, sugary dance-pop, and using a lot of experimental sounds. All we can say is that we wish this song lasted longer than two minutes.
Vance Joy
“Mess Is Mine”
Vance Joy is one of our new favorite folk-rock singers that falls somewhere in between Bon Iver and Hozier. “Mess Is Mine” is a gorgeous example of Joy’s storytelling ability and penchant for simplistic, layered instrumentation. If this song is anything like what’s to come on his debut full-length due September 9, we’re pretty sure his name is going to be everywhere.
