You know the Birkin. You know the Kelly. But, when it comes to Hermès’ shoe offerings, the style names don't seem to roll off the tongue as easily. Designed by Pierre Hardy, creative director of footwear since 2002, the luxury brand's rich shoe selection is classic and chic with that whimsical Hermès touch — bright velvet details and embroidered silhouettes — but hasn't exactly reached household-recognized status quite yet. Par for the course considering it's rare for a label to be well known for bags and shoes.
But, the French house is ready to change that. Thanks to a fun, albeit silly, new promo video (below), Hermès is giving you an up-close-and-personal view of its fall collection. It's certainly an innovative way to present the range, but if this newest creative attempt doesn't get the footwear to the same iconic level as the famous bags, perhaps Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski will help with direction as she steps into her role as the new artistic director for women's ready-to-wear next year.
Want an even closer look at the shoes? Stop by the salon at the Hermès NYC boutique, 691 Madison Avenue (between 62 and 63 streets), from August 8 through August 29.
