Rent The Runway Is Going Brick-&-Mortar

Rent the Runway, the online destination for designer digs at affordable prices, is making its way to Manhattan in a big way — we're talking 1700-square-feet big.
Taking its talents to the Flatiron district (16 West 18th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues), Rent the Runway is opening its first brick-and-mortar retail haven September 3. The shop will feature an ever-changing selection of 850 dresses and 250 accessories from over 200 designers, including Opening Ceremony and Marchesa Voyage. For only $25, customers can get one-on-one stylist consultations (for those times when you simply can't figure out what to wear).
The store also takes personal shopping to a high-tech level: It brings Rent the Runway's "Virtual Closet" experience to life. Dressing rooms will be outfitted with iPad minis "equipped with scan-to-screen capabilities for stylists to upload each dress [users try on] and add comments for future reference," the company wrote in a press release. Plus, if something doesn't fit, forget the postal system; simply pop over to 18th Street for a quick-and-easy swap. This is a huge moment for your closets — and your wallets.
