Few things make fashion people as happy as a new Target designer collaboration. And, the just-released photos from the forthcoming Altuzarra collection got us all pretty jazzed to scoop up those slinky, '70s-babe dresses and cute cami sets. Well, make that some of us. See, there's a vocal cadre of die-hard Target fans who are feeling left out of the fancy-clothes-for-less mania, and they're taking to Twitter to voice their opposition.
It all started with this GarnerStyle post. In it, blogger Chastity Garner Valentine explains why she needs to consciously uncouple from Target, despite her deep love for the store. See, Chastity regularly drops hundreds of dollars at the bullseye, and would do the same on the Altuzarra collection, but sadly, the line isn't offered in plus sizes. As Chastity puts it:

"Literally 50 pieces of beautiful (and I mean beautiful) affordable clothing and none of it will be remotely close to the size that I wear. The collection consists of deeps hues of burgundy, fabulous snakeskin prints, and fall worthy, silk-like maxi dresses…enough to make any fashion lover lust. My heart sinks. You [have] once again made me feel like a second-class customer, and because of that I’m going to have to discontinue my relationship with you altogether."
Chastity is vowing not to purchase anything at Target, from home decor to groceries, until Target "includes true plus sizes" in its designer collaborations. And, her #BoycottingTarget hashtag is picking up steam on Twitter among like-minded women who want in on the affordable fashion fun.
We reached out to Joshua Thomas, a spokesperson for Target, who provided the following statement, promising to consider the group's feedback:
"We never want our guests to feel disappointed, and if we’ve let them down, we apologize. We appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from our guests. We’ll take this feedback into consideration as we move forward. In the meantime, we offer a variety of plus options. We’ll also be introducing a new plus line in the near future that features a focus on the latest styles, all at great prices."
We look forward to seeing the forthcoming plus-size collection, and hope future designer collaborations keep this in mind. Because, no woman should have to go without a badass, bordeaux-velvet pantsuit.
