Alas, Hannah Horvath won't be going home with an Emmy. But, can we talk about that dress?
In typical fashion, Lena Dunham's red carpet style was a point of contention at tonight's Emmy Awards. The newly blonde Girls star went for cupcake-chic in a daring Giambattista Valli number that featured a cap-sleeved button-down blouse tucked into a tiered, tutu-esque skirt in every shade of pink imaginable. In short, it's the sartorial equivalent of one of those layered, My Little Pony-colored birthday cakes you see on Pinterest.
Admittedly, we're a bit torn on this one. The concept behind the outfit, however out-there it may be, is unabashedly fabulous and feminine. And, nobody wants to see Lena Dunham in a basic black dress that looks like it came off the rack.

The problem here isn't the frou-frou aesthetic or the rosy ombre train. It's the fit. The blouse is bunched up, and the skirt seems like it's been pulled up just a tad too high. A few alterations would have created a more refined silhouette, and Dunham might have exuded the same self-confidence she had in that canary-yellow Zac Posen gown from the Golden Globes.
Still gotta love the boldness. When this gal thinks pink, she thinks big.
