Warning: The Hamptons is suffering a drought.
Winos heading east for Labor Day Weekend better think twice — according to Page Six, supplies of rosé, the drink of the summer, are reportedly running "dangerously low." Many of the lux area's hot spots, including Montauk's Surf Lodge, Navy Beach, and 75 have issued a wine emergency — after serving glass after glass to thirsty customers all summer long, there's barely any pale pink nectar left to celebrate the season's last hurrah.
Seriously though, will Hamptonites be able to make it through the weekend? Two summers ago, beach-goers somehow made it through the Great Rosé Blackout of 2012, where a four-bottle-per-person limit was imposed at certain liquor stores and restaurants scrambled to find any remnants of the chilled pink drink. We survived, but we will never forget the hardship.
I guess it goes without saying that if Hampton-goers can endure purchasing limitations, they can make it through anything. One thing's for sure, roséheads must be thrilled to see summer go because, really, what's summer without a cool glass of wine? Well, here's to Labor Day — and to ringing out the season with some Sauvignon Blanc. (Page Six)
