The Chanel fall '14 runway brought it back to basics — the literal, everyday routine of going to the grocery store. While most show goers zeroed in on the Chanel-ified canned goods, we had our eyes on the black quilted headphones perched casually around the models' necks. But, as we are well aware, the Chanel lifestyle don't come cheap.
With the collection's arrival in stores fast approaching, we dreamed of luxurious morning commutes, listening to This American Life through our high-fashion headphones, nothing but a tuft of cool leather touching our ears. After all, these are basically like a Chanel handbag for your head, that are also perfectly practical for jamming out to your favorite Pandora station. Alas, this scenario's for the dream state, only — unless you have a cool $5,000 to spare.
The brand revealed that the headphones, which came to be through a partnership with tech company Monster, will be available for purchase in September. The Daily Mail reports that these will retail in the U.K. for 4,170 pounds, which means jam sessions à la Chanel will set you back a couple months' rent in NYC. Maybe in an alternate universe — one where we run to the corner store to pick up lait de Coco on the regular — we will be able to indulge in some Chanel tech. For now, we'll have to keep accessorizing our head bopping with earbuds.
