Street style and selfies usually reign the socialsphere through Fashion Week, but Vine is the winner this time. It has given us awkward backstage gems we'll cherish long after the spectacle moves to Europe, and it's allowed us to see what happens before models hit the catwalk — which, apparently, is not all that different from our daily life. And, Vogue, it would seem, is having the most fun with the app. First, the Conde crew followed Nicki Minaj backstage at Alexander Wang. Then, they hung out backstage at Michael Kors asking models to pantomime our favorite form of communication: emojis.

These models arguably got a better deal than the ones at Alexander Wang (let's be real, that group never stood a chance), and it showed as they poured their hearts into their performance. After all, sometimes tiny cartoons speak louder than words. Haven't you ever impulsively reacted to a frustrating situation by covering your eyes à la monkey-see? We sure have, and so has Vanessa Axente. (They really are just like us!)
Models-turned-actresses may be a tired cliché, but this is a whole different ball game. Check out which emojis made the cut over at Vogue. (Vogue)
