8 Things To Do In NYC This Week

Thirty days hath September...and half of them are gone! Labor Day is far behind us, and the leaves are already changing color. So, that means you're likely looking ahead to Thanksgiving plans and maybe even your winter vacation? But, before you fill your schedule that far down the line, take a look at what NYC has to offer this week. Because the free guac, clothing trade-ins, and complimentary manicures mean the next few days are looking mighty fine.

Go minimalist.
We've gushed over IMAGO-A before, and we're happy to do it again. Particularly because today the gorgeous geometric accessories are going to be marked down at a special sale event featuring IMAGO-A bags and Osei-Duro clothing. So, you can take one for you and one for your best friend.
When: Monday, September 15, 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: 179 Mott Street (between Kenmare and Broome streets); no phone.

Celebrate National Guac Day.
As if you needed another reason to eat your favorite snack food ever. Tuesday is National Guacamole Day, and Mexicue is celebrating by offering free grilled serrano guacamole — flavored with serrano pepper, paprika, cumin, chipotle powder, and more — at all of its NYC locations from 5 to 7 p.m. Get there early or get in line.
When: Tuesday, September 16, 5 to 7 p.m.
Where: All Mexicue locations.

Eat in Astoria.
The first annual Eat In Astoria food festival is taking place this Tuesday, featuring some of Queens' finest culinary delights. Bites from Chef Michael Psilakis' MP Taverna, Arepas Grill, Bourbon & Vine, De Mole, La Rioja, Marketa, Mojave, and The Sparrow Tavern will all be available at the event, which also marks the beginning of Queens' first restaurant week.
When: Tuesday, September 16, 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Astoria Bank, 37-16 30th Avenue (between 37th and 38th streets), Queens.

Get some guidance.
Are you an artist looking to make a living doing what you love most? Then you'll be happy to know that Lisa Congdon will be sharing practical advice in her new book Art, Inc. about how to do just that. This Wednesday, she and Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge will be at Powerhouse Arena talking all things art and life.
When: Wednesday, September 17; 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Powerhouse Arena, 37 Main Street (at Water Street), Brooklyn; 718-666-3049.

Find your scent.
Our favorite perfumer diptyque has created a new collection of limited-edition fragrances and, for the first time, carefully crafted home objects. Scented pillar candles, candle holders, soap-stone diffusers, and more pay homage to the beloved bazaar spirit that characterizes diptyque's roots and history. Stop by the store on Thursday night to celebrate — and smell — the new collection. And, maybe even walk away with your new favorite scent.
When: Thursday, September 18, 4 to 8 p.m.
Where: diptyque Bleecker Boutique, 377 Bleecker Street (between Perry and Charles streets); 212-242-2333.

Run 10, feed 10.
The concept is simple: register to run a 10K and feed 10 people in your local community. Pay the $55 entry fee to Women's Health's third annual 10K race, and 10 meals will be donated to a local NYC food bank. Now, that's a cause worth sweating for.
When: Sunday, September 21, 7 a.m.
Where: Pier 84 at Hudson River Park (at West 44th Street).
