Are they breaking up? Are they having another baby? Are they exhausting our patience? At this point, it's anyone's guess as to what Ma and Pa Carter are up to these days. But, there's one thing we know for sure: cameras are involved.
Picking up where that "Bang Bang" teaser trailer for their HBO special left off, Beyoncé and Jay Z have shot a trio of films with director Dikayl Rimmasch. The artsy black and white films, the first of which is available to watch on Nowness, were shot during the couple's On The Run tour, which ended in Paris last Saturday.

In Bang Bang: Part One, the couple engage in some fairly benign outlaw behavior: shooting mailboxes, driving erratically, snuffing out cigars in hamburgers. While the power duo's Bonnie and Clyde personas influenced the trilogy, Rimmasch told Nowness that Jay Z had a more complex vision.
"'We’re [Jay Z and Beyoncé] not trying to do this literally, it’s not that we’re Bonnie and Clyde,'" Rimmasch said the rapper told him. "'We’re on the run from everything. On the run from becoming a cliché. On the run from doing the same thing again.' Everything he mentioned was a level of consciousness he has for staying alive as an entertainer and as a human being. He wanted to keep it more abstract because for him it was very abstract. How do you stay new, not just to your audience but also yourself?"
Well, an elevator scandal and an HBO special (out September 20) should do the trick. Despite the drama that has surrounded Blue Ivy's parents this summer, Rimmasch says they're surprisingly down to earth.
"Beyoncé and Jay Z are two very intelligent, insightful, and thoughtful people, in an almost low-key way," he said. "Which is how they got to where they are. They are very aware of people’s attitudes and what energy they are bringing. Once you fully realize that, then the pressure comes off and you just have to do what you’re good at."
Watch the first film below. Part Two will be revealed tomorrow.
