Landlady
"Under The Yard"
"Under The Yard" is an awesome reminder of the creativity that still exists in rock music today. This soulful track experiments with a variety of sounds and soft, harmonizing vocals — a little bit reminiscent of Dirty Projectors. Plus, that clay animation video of a growing garden is just too cool.
Walk The Moon
"Shut Up And Dance"
Break out the face paint: Walk The Moon has returned! The indie-pop boys are back with "Shut Up And Dance" — the first single from their new album, due out later this year. We tried to stay quiet, but this is definitely one fun, dance jam that will get your booty shaking.
Dotan
"Home"
The chilling vocals of Dotan have us captivated. "Home" is a gorgeous, anthemic track that is complemented by his layered vocals. This song is just one of the autobiographical gems that you should check out from Dotan's album, 7 Layers.
Soft Swells
"Floodlights"
We're totally digging the mellow rock vibes Soft Swells is bringing. "Floodlights" is a melodic, indie-rock track that shows off a more matured Tim Williams' talent. Their upcoming record by the same name is one we can't wait for — it'll be out on September 30.
Deerhoof
"Exit Only"
At Refinery29, we love girl-power anthems that we can rock out to — "Exit Only" is one of those tracks. Noise rockers Deerhoof are back and are coming up on the release of their record La Isla Bonita (due out November 4). It seems like there's sure to be a lot of sweet, musical experimentation happening this time around.
