By now, you’ve already stalked the news of the Apple Watch online and, if you’re really lucky, you’ve seen it in person at last month’s Silicon Valley unveiling or this week’s Colette sneak preview in Paris. But, even if we thought we knew everything there was to know about the slick, multi-tasking gadget, one aspect of its rollout remains shrouded in mystery: the ad campaign.
While Apple hasn’t yet stated which lucky model was chosen to rep the timepiece, our money is on Chinese runway star Liu Wen. The Victoria’s Secret Angel and current face of Estée Lauder dropped a major hint about her potential gig on Instagram this week. The snap of Wen checking out the watch comes captioned with “My second meeting with the #AppleWatch, this time in @colette! The first time? Well, you'll see soon." That's about as close to an announcement as it gets.
In the past, the company has recruited musicians like U2 or Will.i.Am to sell products, but snagging a supermodel this time actually makes perfect sense. Apple aspires to make wearable tech appealing to the fashion set, and Wen is a designer favorite, gorgeous, and experienced when it comes to modeling watches. (She's repped Calvin Klein's timepieces in the past.) Casting her is a surefire way to get fashion folks amped for this release, and it sends a strong message about the tech giant's version of (actually) wearable tech. (The Fashion Law)
