Cosmopolitan is getting its very own TV show. Well, kind of. The magazine and increasingly powerful digital force will be teaming up with writer Leslye Headland for a new sitcom. You might remember Headland from her work as the writer and director of Bachelorette, the black comedy starring Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher, and Rebel Wilson.
The premise for the single-camera show totally sounds like something we would watch. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the show "centers on a failed political blogger who starts over in New York as the 'sex' editor for a women's magazine" (scare quotes theirs...it's just a sex editor, THR).
According to Cosmo editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, Headland has been "quietly embedding" at the magazine to prepare for the project. The writer even accompanied Coles to New York Fashion Week so she could witness the "junction of fashion, celebrity, beauty, and the other madness of our world."
The show sounds like a combination of Sex and the City, Sex and the Single Girl, and Just Shoot Me. Does this mean NBC isn't going to order a pilot of my series about two researchers at the fictional Cosmopolitan Sex Institute located just floors below Hearst Tower's famed Good Housekeeping Research Institute? Sad. (The Hollywood Reporter)
