A Funny Thing Happened At Comic Con This Weekend

Talking to people is one of my favorite parts of my job. And, I've become pretty comfortable doing so at dinner parties, in-store events, and fashion week soirees. As far as fan conventions go, though, I'm a total novice. But, when ComicCon came to town this weekend, I didn't want to let that stop me.
In fact, I was inspired by the challenge of getting to know such a tight-knit community, bonded by similar interests, passions, and, well... lycra. Even despite the fact that I don't know my Marvels from my DCs or my animes from my Animaniacs.
So, I did what anyone would do: I found a costume and headed to the Javits Center for a healthy dose of hero-dom. Except my cape was Junya Watanabe from Barneys. And, my full-face of makeup didn't exactly transform me into someone that could save a baby from a burning building. Still, I couldn't have found nicer or more welcoming people in midtown. They were open-arms, no-judgement folks that, yes, all knew a thing or two about swords and sorcery, but had even more to offer by way of friendly advice. May the force be with all of us.
