It’s official: Boxing has gone luxe. Models are already a fan of the intense workout, and now Louis Vuitton has debuted a punching bag and trunk designed by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. While the brand's site says “price on request,” T magazine reports that the heavyweight gear is “about $175,000."
It seems that Lagerfeld is drawing inspiration from the gym, given his recent sporty Chanel display at Bergdorf Goodman — complete with barbells and dumbbell. As for his boxing equipment, it features the classic Louis-Vuitton-monogrammed canvas with an aged cowhide-leather trim. And, it comes with a pair of gloves and a mat. Only 25 of these sets are being made — but you can always snag the collection’s boxing-inspired purses if that's your thing.
While plenty of designers — including Trina Turk, Betsey Johnson, and soon Tory Burch — are showcasing athletic apparel, luxe fitness equipment seems to be the next step into the sweat-seeking scene. Alexander Wang, for example, has offered a glimpse of his H&M boxing gloves. He also previously designed a yoga mat (as did Diane von Furstenberg).
We’re really excited about the possibility of a high-fashion fight club.
