This New Sleater-Kinney Track Makes Us Want to Riot, Grrrl

The year was 2005. Brokeback Mountain was in theaters and "Lazy Sunday" was circulating on a brand-new network called YouTube. The iPhone didn't even exist yet, except maybe in some skunkworks CIA laboratory deep in the foothills of Tajikistan.
It was also the year of The Woods, Sleater-Kinney's last album. The Sub Pop-signed, grunge-punk-riot-grrrl trio of Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss broke up the following year to explore new music projects and put birds on things.
Next week, however, will see the release of Start Together, a handsome box set of the band's entire discography — and with it, a shiny new single titled "Bury Our Friends."
Stereogum managed to get its paws on a pre-release copy of the 7", a preview of which they posted yesterday. (The record has "1/20/15" stamped on the outside, leading some to suggest that a new album will arrive in January.) Have a listen:

Start Together goes on sale October 21. Get excited. (Stereogum)
