The universal sentiment on this new Comic Sans typewrite seems to be: "Nope!"
Designed by Jesse England, the "Sincerity Machine" does nothing more than type in what is very certainly the most reviled typeface on the planet. England says in a video about the project that Comic Sans is, while hated, "a mark of sincerity for those who do not have graphic design experience."
But that won't assuage anyone who will debate you on the distinctions between Helvetica and Neue Haas Grotesk. Popular Mechanics warns: "Typeface geeks, avert your eyes." Co.Design calls it "every type lover's worst nightmare." A commenter on BuzzFeed's post about the machine called it "more proof there are some sick sick people in the world that need to be stopped ASAP."
Engadget, however, seems to love it. The site's Edgar Alvarez cheekily wrote his article about the Sincerity Machine in Comic Sans. Very funny, guys. (Popular Mechanics)
