Anne Hathaway seems to be slowly moving herself back into the public eye since her brief step away after Les Mis, the Academy Awards, and that Prada dress. And, her latest appearance includes a different side of the Oscar winner. One that’s pretty timely for late October.
Dressed in Christopher Kane, Hathaway channeled her own version of Morticia Addams for the American Cinematheque 28th Annual Award Presentation, an event which honored Matthew McConaughey. The frock is plucked from the runway of London Fashion Week, where its rope lace gave the feminine fabric a bit more structure (it was originally worn with nothing underneath). But, for the red carpet lights, Anne layered in a black slip dress and added a classic Christian Louboutin pump, making the already gothic creation even darker. It essentially became a modern, high-fashion version of Morticia’s signature look, complete with elongated sleeves that reach to the finger tips and lace fringes (in lieu of Addam’s frayed edges).
While we're not sure what Morticia and McConaughey have to do with one another, we're advocates of shopping your own closet for costume fodder, so we're all for Hathaway's early Halloween trick. Nay, treat.
