Did Gwen Stefani Steal Her New Song From This Pop Star?

Gwen Stefani has a runaway hit with her comeback song "Baby Don't Lie." But, that may not be all she has. It looks like the No Doubt singer might have a good old fashioned controversy to go along with that platinum record.
Fans of the obscure Swedish pop star Ji Nilsson took to Twitter recently, to point out that Stefani's new single sounds oddly similar to Nilsson's song “Heartbreakfree.” Upon listening to the two tracks side by side, we can't help but agree. Stefani is off the hook, since all she really did was add her vocals to the beat. It's producers Ryan Tedder and Benny Bianco that might have some explaining to do.

Perhaps realizing what all this sudden attention might do for her career, Nilsson is taking the whole snafu in stride. "Thanks for all the love and support! I'm super happy that a lot of people are discovering my music!" she tweeted.
Her gracious reaction is very similar to that of Sara Bareilles, who found herself in a similar situation when observers pointed out that Katy Perry's "Roar" sounded a lot like Bareilles' song "Brave." ("All Love, everybody. All love." She tweeted at the time.)
"I have not been sitting around waiting to say that a famous artist copied the production of my song. Blogs started to write about it people agreed so I listened to Baby Don't Lie and yes, I agree that the production sounds alot like Heartbreakfree," Nilsson added. So, does she bear any ill will towards Stefani? Nope. Quite the opposite, actually. "I love @gwenstefani and No Doubt," she wrote. "'Don't Speak', 'Just A Girl' and 'Cool' are AMAZING songs."
