Willow Smith Whips CMJ Crowd Back & Forth With New Material

Last night while some of us were home snoozing, 13-year-old Willow Smith was murdering a live performance at the Fader Fort presented by Converse for the CMJ music festival.
Smith, who had recently taken some time off from music to be about as normal of a tween as you can be if your parents are world-famous actors and musicians, crooned some new tunes from her upcoming EP, 3 (available on iTunes November 10). Meanwhile, her brother Jaden, actor and Twitter sage, also appeared onstage to do a guest rap on the song "5." (Numbers are a big thing with these two.)

After Jaden left the stage, dream pop goddess SZA showed up for a little duet action. Over the summer, SZA wrangled Willow onstage during a Rough Trade show and declared, "She's cooking some of the craziest shit I've ever heard. I mean it… She's perfect. She's so perfect." The feeling is apparently mutual.
The show ended with Smith (sort of) performing "I Whip My Hair Back And Forth." Sort of, in that the track played while she occasionally sang lyrics. After all, that was from when she was 9. She's all grown up now.
Plus, she has less hair to whip back and forth. (NY Post)
