Hulu is fast becoming the home of alt-comedy nerds and '90s nostalgists alike. The online streaming site has expanded its deal with Viacom, adding thousands of episodes to its already massive library. That means more cult classics from the catalogs of Viacom properties including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TV Land, Spike, and BET.
If you attended middle school during the '90s, you know exactly what this means: Ren and Stimpy are back! If you didn't come of age during the era, let us fill you in. Ren and Stimpy are a manic chihuahua and his half-brained cat bestie who starred in Nickelodeon's twisted The Ren & Stimpy Show. The show's combination of toilet humor and disturbing visuals made it a parental nightmare, but now that we all have jobs and apartments, well, sorry mom — you're out of luck.
Other Clinton Administration 'toons expected to make a comeback include Hey Arnold! and the Spanish-language versions of SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Alt-comedy shows such as Key & Peele, Drunk History, Ridiculousness, Tosh.0, Kroll Show, and Inside Amy Schumer will also be available on Hulu in coming weeks. But, again, the real win here is the return of Ren & Stimpy, who we thought were doomed to bargain bin purgatory forever.
Happy Happy Joy Joy, indeed. (The Wrap)
