The phrase "Think before you speak" was drilled into our heads even before we learned to speak. Nowadays, it's more like "Think before you tweet," but the gist is still the same: Make sure you've got your thought fully buttoned up before you blurt it out.
In the rare event that you spoke before thinking, in the digital universe, you'd be more or less screwed. Facebook and tumblr have been the only two major social media platforms that allowed users to edit their words after posting. Today, Instagram joins their ranks.
"When you share a moment to Instagram, a typo shouldn’t get in the way," Instagram announced on its blog. So, after likely drowning in user requests to be able to edit poorly typed captions, Instagram has rolled out an option to do just that.
Now, there's no excuse for captioning a brunch pic with how "ducking excited" you are to dig in. Instagram has given you a saving grace — an autocorrect corrector, a second chance at virtual life, if you will. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't proofread.
