When you're on the red carpet (or in this case, the seafoam-green carpet), you've got to go hard in one aspect of your outfit. Whether it's a dramatic silhouette, a bold color, an eye-watering price tag, or a cut-out that turns into the portmanteau of the season, you push one thing to the limit if you want to make a splash. But, the ultra-advanced carpet-stepper needs to throw in a plot twist. Nicole Richie is obviously one of these advanced students. And, the most impressive aspect of the all-white, ice-princess-gone-corporate look she wore to the Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles this weekend may just be a price tag.
That white cape that makes Liberace look like a wallflower? Stunning. That teal-blue hair juxtaposed against an equally dramatic smoky eye? Next-level. But, that white, long-sleeved column dress with the mock neck? It's from H&M, people. H&M.
Unfortunately, the $39.95 dress is sold out online, but knowing how often H&M brings back past performers, it's worth keeping an eye peeled each time you pass by the store. You might want to pair your future purchase with an all-white blazer, mohair vest, or moto jacket — since we don't all have a floor-length Tadashi Shoji laying around. Still, the point here is made: Nicole Richie wins.
