When we saw Lauren Conrad's wedding hair, it was pretty much what we'd expected: simple, classic, and the right amount of girly. In case you missed it, the bride wore her hair down with a very soft wave, accented by a bejeweled headband and a traditional veil. In short, it was very, very pretty — but nothing that would, say, break Pinterest, the way Kim K's behind broke the Internet.
This fabulous specimen, on the other hand — seen in a recent 'gram of Kristin Ess, Lauren's go-to hair guru — is pure updo heaven. According to the caption, it's the style the bride wore to her rehearsal dinner: a loosely wrapped, large bun placed on the side of her head, with pieces twisted back to add to its romantic, textured vibe. It also looks like the bangs are curled away from the face — the ultimate flattering element. To top it all off, Ess adorned it with a gorgeous, pearl, branch-like accessory — a Grecian touch for a goddess-like style.

If you're looking to score this texture for yourself, flip your hair upside down and spray all over with a texture spray, like Shu Uemura Texture Wave. Finer types could also benefit from layering that with a little bit of powder from mid-lengths to ends (save for the front layers), to add a little more grit. This will allow for a larger, piecey-looking bun. Secure the chignon using bobby pins, and then use your fingers to twist a front piece back, adding your accessory to loosely hold it in place. (This Jennifer Behr comb has a similar vibe, and looks like it'll stay put throughout the night.) Curl the layers right at your eye line, so they'll widen your gaze. And, voilà! You've got an LC-worthy 'do. (In case you want a step-by-step of more pretty updos, you can check out our DIY story for more inspiration.) Let's face it: Lauren's having us say, "I updo."
