Surprising no one, but saddening fans, Angelina Jolie confirmed in an interview with Du Jour magazine that she's planning on giving up acting.
“I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera,” Jolie tells DuJour. “I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m much happier.”
In the interview — primarily about Unbroken, an Oscar-buzzy film Jolie directed about Louis Zamperini, the Olympic runner who survived two years as a Japanese prisoner of war during WWII — Jolie was also asked if that meant she planned to give up acting.

"Absolutely," she said.
On directing the super intense story (Zamperini was literally tortured for two years in captivity), Jolie said, “Directing is very different from acting because it takes more than two years of your life, so it has to matter — really matter — in a different way.”
Of course, as anyone who has watched her humanitarian endeavors grow and grow knows, Angie may have ambitions outside of Hollywood.
But, she's not done with the silver screen yet. She's giving fans what they want and acting with husband Brad Pitt in By the Sea, a love story about a dancer and her writer husband set in the 1970s that Angie wrote and is also directing. We can't wait!
Oh, and their 13 year old son Maddox is working on the film as a production assistant, how sweet is that? (Du Jour)
