When it comes to sexting, you’ve got a a few options and none of them are particularly appealing. You can type out the dialogue to a Skinemax flick and hope the recipient isn’t laughing at it with a gaggle of their friends. You can also shoot over some nude selfies and hope that the intended recipient isn’t laughing at them with a gaggle of their friends. Emojis seem like the best way to split the difference, but the clapping hands and smiley face with hearts for eyes don’t exactly set the mood.
That's where Flirtmoji comes in. According to the site’s mission statement, Flirtmoji are “designed to empower people of all sexualities to communicate their desires, concerns, and flirtations.” The graphic (and anatomically correct) stickers are designed to be pasted into messaging apps and sent off to whomever you’re going to or intend to hook up with.

According to Flirtmoji designer Katy McCarthy, the project was pretty much born out of necessity. She told The Verge, “the game-changer came because one of the guys in the group was having really elaborate texting engagement back and forth with a long distance girlfriend. We realized that we needed to do this, to draw up sex as icons, and make it completely comprehensive, funny, and diverse.”
The images themselves range from the innocuous (a feather) to some very specific and, dare we say, adventurous options, including a power drill with a dildo attachment, a woman riding a giant veiny green penis as if it were a stallion, and what appears to be a well-worn mattress featuring an expansive body fluid stain, which makes us wonder if some crime scene emojis were accidentally tossed into the gallery.
The Flirtmoji crew takes the diversity aspect very seriously. In addition to the icons being sex positive — or, in this case, sext-positive — the characters are also inclusive of race, sexual orientations, and kink preferences. The latter option is pretty well telegraphed by the icons of the assless chaps and bound wrists. As McCarthy told The Verge, “It’s not supposed to be college frat humor, although part of being inclusive is making it funny. It’s just not that hard to have everybody feel represented.”
In addition to being inclusive, the stickers themselves are, for the most part, pretty damn cute. Instead of sending a “U up?” text, you now have the option of sending an icon of a telephone receiver attached to a butt for when you’re throwing a booty call option on the table. That being said, it’s always a good idea to exercise caution: You should know your audience before you send them an unwanted sticker of a cartoon butthole. (The Verge)
