How To Do The Holidays Right, From The Bachelorette‘s Trista & Ryan

You held it together during their swoon-worthy Bachelorette courtship. You stayed strong through their televised wedding. But darn it if Trista and Ryan Sutter haven't finally left you in a soggy puddle of tears.
The reality stars (and married couple of 11 years) have joined forces with Coffee-mate for an emotional holiday video. The premise is this: honoring night-shift workers (including an oncology nurse and pair of ambulance drivers) who go unrecognized for their efforts to keep society humming in the wee hours.
The Sutters know a little something about late shifts; Ryan is a firefighter. So, they surprise each worker with an invitation to join them in their Airstream trailer, which is filled with festive decorations, Coffee-Mate brews, and some special treats that we won't ruin for you just yet.

If watching the commercial makes you feel a bit weepy, you're not alone. Trista told us in a phone interview that she couldn't help but get emotional. "I got teary when we surprised [oncology nurse] Tommy, because his family was there," she said. "It gave me chills because it was so touching."

The Sutters' top three tips for giving your home a festive spin:

Go Authentic
Trista insists on buying a fresh tree each year, and she adds stockings and lights to boot (though not as many as their daughter, Blakesley, might like). The Colorado-based couple also hosts family members at home.

Engage The Kids
The Sutter children, Max and Blakesley, have small, individual trees in their rooms. Every Thanksgiving, their godmother gifts them new ornaments that symbolize the past year. "It's something she did with her family, and now she does it with the kids," Trista explains. "They're always so excited to open the ornaments."

Get Framed
Trista, who also collaborates on the Grateful Heart collection for Glory Haus, is particularly enchanted with picture frames "throughout the house." Ryan brings framed family photos to the fire station when he's on duty, keeping his loved ones nearby.

Aw. If only all reality couples were this legit.
