2014 hasn’t been a great year for American Apparel. Between its well-publicized declining sales, internal drama, and the eventual firing — and then rehiring — of sleazy, controversial CEO Dov Charney, the company needs a major change for 2015. And, from the looks of it, the first step to winning customers back might just be a 15-year-old, braces-wearing YouTube star.
Brendan Jordan captured the Internet’s attention back in October, when his “diva dancing” in the background of a local Las Vegas news program garnered four million views (watch it here if you haven’t already). Now, American Apparel has recruited the teenager for its new campaign, and the result is as awesome as you'd expect. Jordan models faux leather pants, PVC skirts, and see-through backpacks — all with his signature stank face intact. The biggest gem, however, is the Black Friday #AAHAUL promo video, in which Jordan dances on a bed and unveils his favorite new pieces (sparkly sweaters and futuristic skirts, anyone?).
From proudly featuring a trans* model to choosing a stunning gray-haired senior, this isn't the first time American Apparel has used an unexpected face in its campaigns. More of this in 2015, please. But, for now, meet Brendan Jordan here, and prepare to be obsessed. (Elle)
