Sam Smith and a stag party traipse through Brooklyn and the Lower East Side in his new video for "Like I Can." They appear to be having a great time. They're walking through Brooklyn Bridge Park, throwing flowers off of balconies, and doing tequila shots. On the surface, everyone appears cute and happy. But, this is a Sam Smith video; there's an underlying message of wistful melancholy.
"He'll never love you like I can, can, can," the lyrics keep repeating. Could it be a bachelor sendoff for someone Smith wishes he was marrying instead? How very Andrew Lincoln at Keira Knightley's wedding in Love Actually of him.
Heartbreak aside, the gorgeously shot video is well worth a watch. I would also like to ask the universe why groups of handsome men in tuxedos are never on the Brooklyn Bridge when I'm there? Work on that, please.
