Sex and raunch abound in the whole Fifty Shades of Grey storyline. Beyoncé's kinked-up version of "Crazy In Love" and "Haunted" play into this theme quite well. Ellie Goulding, however, has found a sweet spot on the soundtrack.
"Love Me Like You Do" is an unsurprisingly blissful pop track. It's what Goulding does best, after all. Where it fits into the BDSM narrative is questionable, but that's nothing to get all tied up over. The track is sublime — and something the 50 Shades franchise can benefit from.
Outside of the soundtrack, this is our first taste of new material coming from the "Lights" singer since 2013's Halcyon Days. If the next album is anything like "Love Me Like You Do," our interests are most certainly piqued.
