Portlandia isn't the only place where the dream of the '90s is still alive. New Kids on the Block stopped by Good Morning America to announce that they're hooking up with TLC and Nelly for a sprawling tour that will launch in Vegas, baby, Vegas, this May.
GMA's stage this morning was like a who's who of karaoke staples and bar mitzvah memories for those of us who hit puberty during the late '80s and '90s. Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood, and Joey McIntyre were joined by T-Boz and Chilli from TLC, while Nelly sent in a video greeting from Japan where he was performing for the troops.
According to Wahlberg, The Main Event tour will include some awesome Vegas-style luxuries for fans that are too grumpy to stand for the entirety of a live show. Seriously, who wants to stand for two hours? Feh!
"We've built bar seats around the stage so our fans can literally sit right on the stage and converse with us and we can share their snacks and drinks if we want to," Wahlberg said. Snacks and drinks and sitting down while singing along to "Waterfalls"? Now we're talking!
The two remaining members of TLC recently launched a Kickstarter to fund a new (and final) album. According to their Kickstarter message, "While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don't often give artists complete control of their own music. It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU." Wahlberg promised to give them $10,000 of that sweet, sweet Wahlburgers money if they agreed to a duet.
The Main Event begins in Vegas on May 1, and will travel across the country, with a final stop in Buffalo in July. [People]
