Fifty Shades Of Grey Isn’t Including That Tampon Scene

If you've read the Fifty Shades series, you know exactly what we mean by "tampon scene." If you haven't, well, you can handle a little feminine-hygiene talk before lunch, right?
In E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey, there's a scene in which Anastasia Steele begs off sex because she has her period. Christian Grey responds by pulling out her tampon. Guys, don't try this at home.
Unfortunately for book-to-film purists, the scene won't be included in the big-screen adaptation, out next month. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has told Variety that the tampon moment was "never even discussed."

The film

which also won't include any full-frontal nudity from Jamie Dornan —
may also have fewer sex scenes than fans are expecting. Taylor-Johnson said it's split "pretty 50/50" between racy bedroom action versus non-sex scenes.

Author James, who is producing the film, also downplayed some of the hype. “Fifty Shades of Grey is, first and foremost, a romantic love story, and the sex is only part of that,” James told Variety. “People who haven’t read the books might be surprised that there isn’t more sex on the screen, but that’s because they’ve gone by media reports of Fifty Shades, which have tended to err on the side of the sensational. I’m pretty sure the millions of fans who have the read the trilogy will think there is enough sex."
We'll be the judge of that.
