With Valentine’s
Day around the corner — and springtime soon to follow — rest assured that there is a non-cheesy way to wear pastels. Octavia Spencer is proof. While attending this
year’s AARP The Magazine’s Movies For Grown-Ups Awards Gala (say that five times fast), she
caught our eye with her ballet-slipper-pink number, by red-carpet favorite Tadashi Shoji. The bodice was form-fitting (but still structured), and the full skirt tops off (or bottoms out?) a silhouette that we've grown familiar with this past year.
But, it's not your typical fit-and-flare that you might have outgrown from last year. It's sweet and prim, but the sheer overlay keeps this Oscar-winner looking like she's headed to Sunday school. It also helps that the tulle's whimsical starfish
pattern is not a floral pattern — and that Spencer opted to keep the rest of the ensemble understated. Her hair is simple and sleek, as are her neutral heels and coordinating coral clutch.
