Madonna has found a way to make Snapchat's new, polarizing Discover update actually beneficial. She debuted her first music video from her forthcoming (but constantly leaked) album Rebel Heart. Discover, indeed.
"Living for Love" was released on the ephemeral photo sharing app today. It finds Madge as matador, teasing bondage-laced men with bull horns around a red stage — a nice inverse to her 1994 No. 1 hit "Take A Bow," during which she lusted after a matador. Amplified cape swooshes, jumping noises, and bull huffs, along with the gothic Spanish theme, recall Moulin Rouge's "El Tango de Roxanne" scene. This is dark, pop house, though.
This is also one of the most promising things to come from the Rebel Heart promotional tour. "Living for Love" is the first video Madonna has put out that actually feels like Madonna. (Everything from the MDNA era was great, but got lost in the mix of Mileys, Nickis, and Gagas.) She's showing off, commanding a scene, and making digestible pop feel good for once. She sings it herself, "I'm not giving up." Then carry on, Madge. Carry right on.
