Can you really blame us for having vacations on the mind right now? As we approach the home stretch of New York Fashion Week — and for some the start of Fashion Month — a small getaway seems well deserved for those who’ve been burning the midnight oil over the past several days. But for someone who was once arguably one of the most hardest working employees of Fashion Month — supermodel Christy Turlington — vacations have replaced the event all together. And while walking a runway hasn't left her weak, physically speaking, her recent NYFW plans may now be the best method of prevention.
“I’m very fortunate because I never fell on the runway. I never had any horrible things happen to me, but [Fashion Week] was never my favorite thing. I actually tend to go away. I like to be away for Fashion Week. This year we’re going skiing. I love the city, I live in the city, but the city is so small in a way.
"As great as it is that fashion has gotten bigger and bigger and bigger, it’s hard to escape it. So when you’re not actively in it and don’t need to be in it, you kind of feel like you have a choice. I’m not in it anymore, so…”
