Oh, Fifty. Mirror UK is reporting by way of an Australian magazine called NW that Jamie Dornan doesn't want to reprise his role as Christian in the already greenlit sequel to the surprise box-office smash Fifty Shades of Grey. The reason behind Dornan's decision, according to this unsourced report, is that his wife was unhappy with him appearing in such explicit sex scenes. The Mirror also says that the actor "has been left reeling by a barrage of scathing reviews for the movie adaptation of the risqué S&M book."
Again, these are unverified rumors, but you know how passionate Fifty Shades fans can be. They took to Twitter in droves to bemoan the horrific turn of events.
"[J]amie dornan has just crushed millions of womans dreams refusing to do the next two 50 shades films because of his wife," @amytaylor444444 wrote. "[G]uess her psycho girlfriend instincts kicked in."
"Gutted Jamie Dornan has quit from the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise," @xamyp tweeted with six thumbs-down emojis.
"What's this I'm hearing about Jamie Dornan not being in the 50 Shades sequels because his wife won't let him? HE HAS TO BE," wrote the outraged @abcdefbecky.
Although it seems highly unlikely that Universal Pictures would have allowed the actor playing Christian to sign onto only one film in what it hoped to make a trilogy, we have reached out to the studio for comment. In the meantime, please stow your twitchy Twitter fingers, Fifty Shades fans. (Mirror UK)
