Crossbody bags may have fallen out of favor recently on the runway for more substantial working-women shapes that can better fit lunch and a laptop. But, if you ask us, the crossbody is an equally empowering choice: They're hands-free and can convert to a clutch instantly (tuck the strap in — it’s one of our favorite after-hours tricks). These are everywoman bags, and we proudly sling ours on in the face of their waning trendiness. Still, we’ll never say no to an update on an old favorite, and Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni created a genius hybrid accessory for her fall 2015 collection.
She brought out crossbodies with substantial, thick, won’t-dig-into-your-shoulder straps that break from the style's usual mold. Featuring a flat, long, and wide body, and worn nearly in the models' armpits, these almost looked like fanny packs slung sideways. The collection itself drew inspiration from the Saoirse Ronan action thriller Hanna, and the packs looked like modern-day warrior quivers. Though yours might not contain arrows and antidotes, it's spacious enough to fill with whatever you’ll need to kill it during the day.
