What came first, the chicken or the egg? Were Ross and Rachel really "on a break"? These are just a few of the most stumping and crucial queries of our time. In a recent study, the British Journal of Urology International attempted to answer another (just as vital) question: What is the average penis size?
When compiling data, the study authors took into account 17 previous academic papers on the subject. In total, the study included the penis measurements — flaccid and erect — of 15,521 men from around the world. The researchers carried out their analyses in centimeters (the word is still out on whether this was done simply to confuse American men).
But, enough banter. Without further ado, the average erect penis is...13.12 cm — that's 5.16 inches — long. Other findings of note: The average flaccid penis is 9.16 cm (3.61 inches) long, while an erect penis in the 95th percentile (way above average) is 16 cm, a.k.a. 6.3 inches. Researchers also pointed out that there is little to no correlation between the mythologized "indicators" of penis size — such as hand size, shoe size, and height — and the actual length/girth of a man's penis. Let's hope this brings gratuitous winking at the larger-footed among us to an end, once and for all.
