Empire might be coming to an end — the two-hour season 1 finale airs next week — but amidst the anxiety, we're already getting pumped up for next season. Will Lucious and Cookie end up back together? Which son is going to take over the company? What celebs will we see next on the show now that they've already had Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige? These are just a few of the questions that have been running through our minds for weeks. Luckily, we've finally got an answer to that last one...and it's MAJOR.
Oprah Winfrey and Common will be guest-starring on Empire next season. Our excitement is unreal. Last night, at a screening of the season finale in Los Angeles, co-creator Lee Daniels told Entertainment Weekly that both actors will stop by the hit show next season. "Yes. Yeah, she's gonna be on it," he said of Oprah's guest role. Daniels also shared that he's writing a part for Common. "Common, you heard that first."
After performances in Selma this year, we can't wait to see what Oprah and Common are going to do alongside the brilliant, rowdy, and simply untouchable Lyon family. As Vulture's Lindsey Weber pointed out, Oprah's already had a small cameo — perfectly placed on Lucious's desk. Her season 2 appearance is much more official, though.
Don't miss the Empire season 1 finale next Wednesday, March 18. We definitely won't, can't get enough of Miss Boo Boo Kitty.
