Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart are both very funny, very rich
men who have a new movie coming out called Get
Hard. Now, we’ve all seen those terrible video interviews where someone
asks the stars what it was like to work with each other, right? Thankfully, the
good folks at Funny or Die (which was co-founded by Ferrell and writer/director
Adam McKay) made their own little video that will hopefully obviate the need
for any junketeer to ever ask this question during their press tour for Get Hard.
This video mixes up little clips of Hart and Ferrell trying
out for each other’s most famous parts, from Buddy in Elf to, well, the character of Kevin Hart in the reality show
satire Real Husbands of Hollywood.
See, the thing is, Kevin Hart is a very short African-American man, and Will
Ferrell is an extraordinarily tall white guy, and they have fairly different
styles of comedy. The thing is, it kind of seems like Kevin Hart would have
been great as Buddy the Elf or Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights or Ron Burgundy in Anchorman. Maybe they should have made that instead of Get Hard, which just premiered at SXSW
to, ah, very mixed reactions.
