It's a sad day for Sinéad O'Connor concertgoers everywhere. For the last 25 years, the Irish songstress has brought audiences to tears with the hit single "Nothing Compares 2 U" from her second album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got. The song was originally composed by Prince as one of his side projects, and O'Connor swooped in and recorded her own version, which went on to become an international hit in the '90s and beyond.
The music video for the song, which features a tearful O'Connor singing directly to the camera, is also iconic. Unfortunately, the riveting singer can no longer convey that same emotion when singing the lyrics today, thus her reasoning for calling it quits on performing the song live.
In a brief post on Facebook, O'Connor explained why she won't perform her most famous song again.

Her explanation makes sense — a quarter century is a LONG time to be singing the same song (in addition to others, of course) over and over again. More importantly, the best part of live performances is being able to see your favorite artists connect with their music emotionally, so we respect O'Connor's decision to bow out. "Nothing Compares 2 U," and O'Connor's many haunting live performances of it, will always remain in our [broken] hearts.
