We have a major love for Rihanna here in the beauty world, because the girl isn't afraid to take serious risks with her look. (Green lipstick, anyone?) So, when the singer dropped her first single from her much-anticipated new album R8, our eyes immediately zeroed in on her makeup look. And, can we just say, "Holy brows."
Instead of the filled-in, neatly defined arches we're used to seeing on just about everyone, Rihanna's makeup artist Yadim opted for a completely straight-across version. It's a line we haven't seen all that often in the States — folks here typically lust over a more traditional, arched set. The straight-across brows have been major in Korea, though the trend there is a lot less bold. Rihanna, though, isn't worried about following trends — just creating them. And, soft isn't exactly part of @BadGalRiri's vocabulary — she likes them really filled-in.
To go with her brows, Yadim painted on some smudgy eye makeup and exaggerated lipliner. It's a subversive look that works 100%. This isn't the glamazon you've seen on the red carpet at the Grammys — this is edgy, badass Rihanna at her best. As for those brows, we'd love to see them become a major trend. Would you?
