It's no secret that Hollywood actors and actresses rake in some
serious dough. But, which elite few make more than everyone else? The Hollywood Reporter set out to investigate. (Warning: Their findings may result in a temporary wave of income insecurity; it will pass.)
The magazine reports that a select handful of
actors make upwards of $20 million per film. The list includes Robert
Downey Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington and Matt Damon — and, just two leading ladies: Sandra Bullock and Angelina Jolie. (We were somewhat surprised to see Bullock pulling that kind of weight; she was awesome in Gravity, but let's not forget about The Lake House or Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.)
At the tippy
top of the Hollywood pyramid? None other than Leonardo DiCaprio, who
was paid $25 million for The Wolf of Wall Street alone.
Not lagging far behind, Jennifer Lawrence and Melissa McCarthy's wages aren't too shabby, either, with each earning as much as $15 million per picture. Head over to The Hollywood Reporter for more salary breakdowns, and maybe try not to look at
your bank account for a while.
