Tornados tore through rural Illinois Thursday night, hitting towns west of Chicago. As of Friday morning, one 67-year old woman was dead and 11 others had been treated for injuries, according to the Associated Press. As the storm ripped through the area, witnesses posted videos and photos online.

Video of a tornado that destroyed rural Fairdale, IL showed the storm's massive scale.
Emergency crews were still searching Friday morning for survivors that might have been trapped in rubble, CBS News reported.

Smaller tornadoes also appeared in the central part of the state. The storm stretched across the country, with severe weather expected along the East Coast on Friday.
