The Next Sexy Dress That’ll Replace Hervé Léger’s Bandage Dresses Is…

We'd venture to guess that there has been no single designer who made one dress define an era as much as the Hervé Léger bandage dress did for the mid-aughts. Women shoehorned themselves into the dress many a weekend, and if you didn't own the real-deal, you were rocking a cheaper knockoff and opting for the frugal beer-and-shot special to one day own the real deal. Seriously — it's easy to make fun of it with a couple years' distance, but that thing saved lives. It's still pretty much a guarantee to see at least one bandage dress on the dance floor, but they're definitely not as ubiquitous as they were a decade ago. But, if you're keeping an eye out for the next label to dominate, the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards might have the answer. Two ladies sported frocks from rising-star designer Fausto Puglisi: Halston Sage in a mint frock from pre-fall 2015, and Emily Ratajkowski in an emerald green dress in a similar cut (but with a way more impressive single-boob belt) from this past fall 2015 runway collection.

The Fausto Puglisi show is one of the hottest tickets during Milan Fashion Week, a time that already boasts an impressive roster of clubwear bigshots, including Versace, Moschino, and Roberto Cavalli, and this style of one-sided dress is quickly becoming one of Fausto's calling cards, with new updates to the classic in each collection.

We're not quite sure what to call this kind of dress that exposes a single side of midriff and features a bralette-style top. A half slip? The side-driff dress? In any case, we can see this style taking off among the toned-and turnt set looking for a dress that's as head-turning as their moves. And, based on how good Emily and Halston look in it, we're thinking that this has the chops to land in your closets by your last big girls night out of the summer.
