$5,000 Dresses & More Of The Most Expensive Clothes At Coachella

As far as music festivals go, Coachella is clearly the most fashion focused. Given its proximity to L.A. and the sheer amount of celebrity attendees, this three-day music marathon is so much more than a chance to see cool bands — it's a branding opportunity and a fashion show, swirled into one. While the desert heat and sand storms don't make Indio the most practical place to sport designer pieces, that didn't stop this year's big-name ticket holders from taking festival dressing to the next, very expensive, level.  According to People StyleWatch, Alexa Chung wore one of the priciest outfits at Coachella, in the form of a $5,150 Chloe maxi-dress straight from the spring '15 collection. Kate Bosworth also wore a straight-from-the-runway piece — an Etro embellished jacket ($3,165), which she paired with a $550 Kempner Barbell dress. Other jaw-dropping ensembles include Katy Perry's $5,480 Lanvin gown, and Chanel Iman's Temperley London kimono, which isn't even available to buy yet (it will retail for $1,695). The craziest thing is, these getups weren't reserved for fancy off-grounds parties. Everyone from Bosworth to Kendall Jenner, who casually piled on thousands of dollars' worth of DYLANLEX jewelry, was spotted wearing the pricey goods on the dusty, muddy field.
Though this is unconfirmed, it's safe to assume Coachella's celeb set received these outfits gratis, since fashion houses will often gift them in hopes of getting photographed and mentioned in articles not unlike this one, which leads to an inevitable sales boom. Since People reports that Bosworth's Etro jacket is already sold out, the strategy clearly works. When it comes to It Girl outfit stalking, there's really no better place to look than the most celeb-packed festival of the year. (People)
