Lana Del Rey is no stranger to movie soundtracks. She's got quite a knack for producing music that enhances scenes — and thus your emotions — while watching them. Her song "Young and Beautiful" (said to be a favorite of Kim Kardashian) was included on the highly anticipated soundtrack for The Great Gatsby, executive produced by Jay Z.
Beauty is a theme in the lustrous singer's new song, "Life Is Beautiful," but this time, Del Rey is singing about beauty that we can find in our everyday lives, rather than that of a young woman — which is fitting, considering the film in which it's featured. The Age of Adaline follows the life of Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively), who is unable to age after getting into a serious car accident.
"Life Is Beautiful" is dreamy and transcendent. "We can go anywhere, life is still so beautiful," she sings. Del Rey's airy words are accompanied by light strings and music box-like chimes. Much like her other tracks, it's easy to get lost in the music.
The Age of Adaline soundtrack, supervised by Eric Craig (Drive, The Lincoln Lawyer), is eclectic — but the film does span several decades (beginning in 1908). Del Rey's new single is placed alongside several classic tunes on like Ella Fitzgerald and Chick Webb's "I'm Just a Jitterbug," Bob Dylan's "Simple Twist Of Fate," and Jefferson Airplane's "Comin' Back to Me."
