Taylor Swift and her posse do not, it turns out, have a
monopoly on themed celebrity birthday parties. And, unlike the artfully arranged
and beautifully photographed fetes Taylor throws for her girlfriends, the party
Kate Hudson and pals threw for their birthdays looks like one we could actually
pull off. The theme: Hot Mess. Speaking of, it looks like our invitation was lost in the mail.
Hudson, fashion writer Derek Blasberg, and jewelry designer
Jennifer Meyer (a.k.a. Tobey Maguire's wife) held the "threesome" party in Pacific Palisades, according to E!,
and invited a few familiar faces, including Jessica Alba and Sara Foster, the
actress currently starring with her sister on VH1's Barely Famous.
"None of us needed to go shopping for costumes,"
wrote Blasberg, which, if Kate just has those hot-pink fishnets and garter
belts lying around in her closet, she is way more fun than we ever gave her
credit for. She did just split from longtime fiancé Matt Bellamy in December,
so she totally deserves to indulge her wild side like this on her 36th birthday. They even had red cups!

Alba's costume was just put aside for the photo, because showing up looking
like your usual gorgeous self when everyone else is in trucker hats and three
pounds of blush is no fair.
