As someone who watches a LOT of television, I know these two things to be true: One, we need more Jenny Slate and Ari Graynor on our TVs. Two, FX has been producing some dynamite comedies lately. Don't believe me? Just watch You're the Worst, a show that combines both of those truths into one mega-hit of TV awesomeness.
Slate and Graynor are teaming up to star in a comedy pilot for FX. Per Deadline, "The pilot is described as an honest comedy exploring the adult female friendship of two creative partners — Lou (Slate) and Viv (Graynor) — as they embark on a cross-country road trip. Gutsy born-and-raised New Yorkers, Lou and Viv discover each other in their 30s, make a movie together, and jump into the great unknown of their next project. [The friends] find strength and vulnerability in each other, learning how to have a fight and somehow still get back in the car. It’s like Thelma and Louise — but nobody dies."
The series also has some major talent behind the scenes. It was co-created by Gillian Robespierre and Elisabeth Holm, the team behind Obvious Child. Robespierre and Holm co-wrote the script for this new FX show, and Robespierre will also direct the pilot.
Sounds like your new favorite show already, doesn't it? (Deadline)
