Miley Cyrus has made helping homeless youth a priority, as evidenced by her plus one at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards actually accepting her award for video of the year. Jesse Heit gave a voice and a face to the "1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States, who are starving, lost, and scared for their lives right now."
Cyrus just launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, a non-profit that funds programs supporting homeless and LGBT youth, as well as other vulnerable populations. The singer has been working with a variety of musicians on new installments of her (somewhat legendary) Backyard Sessions. And, the latest is Against Me's transgender founder and lead singer, Laura Jane Grace, and rock icon Joan Jett, on a stunning, folky cover of 80s cult faves The Replacements' "Androgynous."
